Harry Tabor (Minor Division) and Chuck Connors (Major Division) Tournaments

The Harry Tabor and Chuck Connors are District Tournaments which give our players an opportunity to compete amongst teams within our district.  It provides a more competitive environment at different locations and gives the kids a chance to get a feel for what All-Stars would be like.  We wish our teams the best of luck!

Click here for a copy of the tournament schedule

Click here for a map of the tournament locations

Instructional division players can be on a player pool list if they are interested.  They would play with the minor teams if they need a sub.  Contact Audra Peterson, player agent, at pete1107@comcast.net if you would like your child on that list.

Expansion Field Dedication Ceremony

Expansion Field Dedication Ceremony will take place on Saturday June 1st at 9:00 am.  There are no games scheduled during that time so that all board members may be present and we have invited board members from past and present to be on hand.  This project started in 2008 and we have finally reached a point where we can play on the field.  During the next couple of weeks we will be trying to complete some of the landscaping, parking signs, planting and will be getting the bleaches/benches in.  If you have some free time during the day or in the evening and see us out there working, we would love an extra set of hands!!

The Chesterton Lions Club has graciously donated the funds for the new bleachers, dugout benches and bases for the expansion field.  All of these items have been ordered and should arrive in time for the field dedication to be held on Saturday, June 1st.  In addition, they have purchased a Lions Head water fountain (for drinking) which will be placed just outside our new building once it is completed!

On Sunday June 9th, the Gary South Shore Railcats will host "youth Baseball Day.”

A section has been reserved for all families in our league.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night.  The game details are:

Railcats v. Sioux Falls
Sunday June 9th @ 2:10 p.m.

Let’s see how many from our league can come out to the field that day and rally for the Railcats and State Park Little League!!

You may still donate; send check to SPLL, PO Box 915, Chesterton, IN 46304. Mark in the memo box, Eagle project.

Message from Joey Petrovich on April 24th

Thank you to all who have supported my eagle project so far. This past Sunday, I had the first portion of my eagle project.  The original plan for this day was to plant the 39 arborvitaes along the west wall. With the help of many volunteers. we were able to accomplish that and much more. We were able to plant all of the shrubs, as well as 15 forsythia bushes along the east wall, and laid down a good portion of the foundation for the flower garden.  Overall, my project is more than halfway complete.

I will be communicating with John Bell to schedule a date to complete my project. The next step in my project will be making a flower garden, putting in a sign, and mulching. As soon as I know the date I will let everyone know.

Progress with the new field !!!

Many thanks to the Rotary Club and all who have been coming out to help.  A lot of work has been going on down at the field.  Please keep an eye out on this site and our Facebook page for updates.  And it wouldn't be complete without a plug for our expansion fund raising effort.  Please click here to visit our charitable contribution site at First Giving.  Thank you again to all those who are able to help out.

Dear State Park Little League Families-

Thank you for a wonderful Summer season.  As the season quickly cam to a close, we found ourselves looking for some extra hands to help out around the fields.  Many of our families asked how they might get involved.  Many of our families did not know they could become involved.  Our organization survives only by the assistance of all of our families.  In order to get through our expansion project and through the many projects we have to keep the field a wonderful family place for our community, it takes YOU!  It takes a village to raise a child and to make our community a better place for them.  Little League thrives on its motto, Loyalty Character and Courage.  Our community has developed many wonderful leaders through the Little League organization.

There are many ways to get involved:

Field Rep During the Season -

Please find attached a generalized list of the Field Rep responsibilities for your information.

Member of the Board of Directors-

Please find attached a list of the election procedures and the offices we typically have available.  We encourage you to attend the September Board Meeting to be held on September 10th at Hageman Library.  This is our annual meeting and previous officers provide year end reports and it is our annual board elections.  We need volunteers!  Many hands make light work!  Any parent or volunteer from the current year may volunteer to be on the board and has a vote.

Expansion Project-

We have several things coming up in regards to the expansion project that need to have a "project leader."  Please consider some of the projects below and if you are experienced in a particular area...... let us know or respond to this email.  We are looking to get some things done in the next several months so we can have an additional field on property for next season!

1) Experience with landscape block?  We have a wall to build at the Woodlawn entrance and would like a leader for this project.

2) Experience with tile/drainage?  We have a plan, we need the help to carry this out.

3) Interested in putting things together?  We need to price, purchase and assemble the batting cages.

4) Do concrete work??  We have to get sidewalks laid out, we need to pour pads for dugouts on the new fields.

5) Just willing to volunteer for a weekend project?  Let us know!!!

Fall Ball Registration - Finally, Fall Ball registration form is linked above!  Please note the deadlines!  Please come out and join us for a laid back Fall season of fun!  All games are on Saturdays, Fridays if necessary.  Get your registration form sent in NOW!!

Thank you all for your dedication to State Park Little League!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!
